Rizzle Kicks

Last summer, I applied for an internship through the British company Jack Wills, and as part of the application, I made a video. To go with he video, I needed to come up with some awesome song to use that demonstrated the fun-loving nature of the video. What better than the upbeat, British duo, Rizzle Kicks? I first heard this song and was immediately hooked. The trumpets add something to the beat and make it quite infectious. You can't not bob your head when listening to this.
Also, the video is pretty fun.
Let's get down with the trumpets, yo.

Bamboozle headliners of 2007

I first heard of Muse in 2007, when my now late friend, Amy, begged me to go to Bamboozle with her. Of course I was totally into this idea because of numerous bands that I actually knew about, but Muse caught my eye. Not only had I never heard of them, but upon looking them up, I found that they were totally up my ally. In high school, I continued to listen to Muse, and now we have this. "Madness" is a more relaxed side of Muse, but the semi-grimy beat works pretty well with the jam as a whole. Muse does not fail to deliver with the great vocals as well.
And again, sorry I've been MIA. I have no excuse.

Safe and Sound

I have heard this song before and I just can't place where. Although not a recent release, I am thinking that it must be in a mash up or a movie or something. Anyway, it's driving me crazy and if anyone has any insight, comment and relieve me from this torment.
If you follow Good Music All Day, you probably heard about this song a year ago, but just to reiterate  this song will have you dancing from beginning to end. An upbeat electro-pop song with some fun lyrics, you are sure to like this song from the moment it starts. Expect another Capital Cities song relatively soon.
Also, 'Like' our Facebook page!

This head I hold

Another recent download for me is "This Head I Hold" by Electric Guest. Of course, it is super upbeat and fun and I love the piano. It has a little bit of an old-school feel, but the fun of it all, makes it a bit addicting and will definitely make you want to dance. I don't really have anything else to say... plus I'm blogging from class. Procrastination at its finest.

Hello, my old heart.

I'm in a bit of a funk. It probably has to do with it being so cold and whatnot, but whatever. Anyway, I just downloaded a bunch of good music, so expect a bunch of good posts. I am veering a bit away from the hip-hop thang, but the alternative/folk/indie thing fits just as well.
I first heard of the Oh Hello's after some website recommended that I listen to their song "Trees". Today, iTunes decided to throw some good ones at me and this was among them. It starts out slow, but picks up a little bit at the end. I like slow alternative songs and often find the lyrics entrancing and incredibly beautiful. I did only used to listen to music like this, so it's good to hear some again.
Hello, my old heart.

Sweater Weather

After a few warm days, it's a bit disappointing to be back to the cold weather after spending a year in California. The good news about all of it is it is officially sweater weather, which I love (Thanks, PA).
Speaking of, I am honestly surprised that I haven't posted this song before. Although I did mention it before, I am finally getting around to post "Sweater Weather"by The Neighbourhood. There is something about this song that I love that I just can't put my finger on. Maybe it's the drum intro, the lead singer's sort of raspy voice, or the general progression of the song. It's a definite jam.
Although I can't say that I know much about them, The Neighbourhood is awesome. If you are in California in december, I would highly suggest downloading their EP and going to see them. They're pretty awesome.
But if you're like me, and on the east coast in the frigidness, all you can do is prepare yourself for Sweater Weather.

juh-jamz The power group

Shout out to Chris Maguire for this one. I am a sucker for power bands... It's part of the reason why I love Broken Bells so much (The Shins and Danger Mouse... Uhm, hello!). Anyway, I received this Jjamz cd as a gift in order to help me move on from my obsession with white rappers (I know it needs to happen...). Jjamz is made up of members from Maroon 5, Bright Eyes, Phantom Planet, and The Like... This is a deadly combination for me. Not only do I love Maroon 5 (who doesn't?) and Phantom Planet (Thank you to "The OC"), but Bright Eyes has been a personal favorite for me forever and it is nice to hear a new sound coming from everyone cumulatively. On their website, this main question is answered:
"“What does your band sound like?” The most common, and unavoidable, question asked of a musician. One friend said we sound like Smart Pop. Another likened us to the West Coast Blondie. When people ask, I usually say “Have you ever been to Venice Beach late at night, when the cops have stopped patrolling, and you’re not sure which shadows the drug dealers and pickpockets are hiding in, but the Ocean is loud and the Air is wet and you feel safe because you’re with someone you know? It sounds exactly like that feels!”
I don’t actually say that, but it’s definitely more fun than “A really good rock band. I think you’d like it.”
This is definitely true-- I think just about anyone could find something about Jjamz that they like- the sound changes from track to track and each song is just as good as the past. This one is personally my favorite- check it out!

Classified

I have been waiting for a song like this for a while. My music goes through phases-- I'll download a ton of music, but it is a rare occasion that I find songs that I listen to religiously and they usually come in groups. The last really good one one was with Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood, Carelessly by Shav and Mentos and Spring by Fortune Family, Upper West, and Melody Noel back in May. Things are looking up recently... I heard this song on another music sharing website and immediately loved it. Anyone who knows my music taste knows that I automatically love upbeat poppy songs with some rap in them. Classified successfully does that in Inner Ninja. This song is unfortunately unavailable for download and is not on iTunes (yet... hopefully), so if you feel so inclined to find some super illegal way to find it, so be it. I'm not your mother. Anyway, I already have this song on repeat thanks to Soundcloud.
You'll hear the intro and immediately find your Inner Ninja

Let's get weird.

**disclaimer** I was going to post this this weekend, but I unexpectedly went home and had no internet connection... thanks Sandy
It is finally the weekend and after a long and busy week, I am looking forward to letting loose and having fun. Honestly, I was waiting for this day all week so I could post this song and actually have it be applicable to life this weekend. Upper West is the unsigned duo from New York City, and frequently works with that one pretty cool guy, Jon Kilmer. (check out some of his videography work here). Anyway, this song is supremely catchy and pretty funny.

Let's get weird.

Some 80s (redux)

Fleetwood Mac. of course, when people hear this name, the first thing that they think about is "Go Your Own Way", but really, the first thing I think about is the end of my senior year of high school. one of my good friends, Adrienne sang "Dreams" the night before commencement ceremonies began and since then, I have listened to that song with memories of high school.
Gigamesh also remixed the awesome Grouplove jam "Tongue Tied" and the upbeat redux is infectious.  Their remix of "Dreams" is no different. Although a little bit more mellow than Grouplove, this remix of the undeniably good 80s song is still extraordinary.
'Play the way you feel it, but listen carefully to the sound"

After Sandy

After Hurricane Sandy, my hometown is still in shambles and everyone is working hard to make everything a little better. During the storm, my school cancelled classes for the first time since the '60s and everyone went nuts. Beers were drank, power went out, and parties ensued. Through all of this erupted numerous "Hurricane" playlists.
Skrillex is one strange dude, but it is undeniable that he is talented. I once was a big All American Rejects fan (yes, I too went through a bit of an emo phase) and Skrillex was successful in reinventing "The Wind Blows"... how apropos.

Don't get too windblown from the aftermath of Sandy. Jam on.

The Bloody Beetroots

I have been gone for a while because of my school work...

Anyway, I'm back and excited as ever.

I usually find my music around the internet and there are more frequently download links than not. This song however, I succumbed to the awesomeness and had to buy on iTunes... you should too. Here is your not so typical dose of The Bloody Beetroots. Breaking free of their typical more punkish-sounds, this song offers a trancing beat and the incredible vocals of Greta Svabo Bech, who you may know from Deadmau5's vocals on "Raise Your Weapon"... Anyway, this song starts out incredible entrancing and turns into a real banger.

Even though I bought it, download it below, or show your support and buy it off of iTunes! It's worth your dollar

I don't speak french...

And this song is still entertaining to me. I heard this playing at a volleyball court and was initially confused because I wasn't sure if it was in another language or I just wasn't understanding it. Despite this, I needed to find it. In typical Mika fashion, "Ella Me Dit" is fun, poppy, and has incredibly high vocals. I obviously have no idea what he is saying or any of the lyrics (anyone who knows me knows that this is incredibly hard for me because I know every song...), it is genuinely fun and supremely catchy.

I can't stand when I can't find the soundcloud clips, so I'm sorry, youtube will have to suffice.
Je suis désolé...

dirty, dirty moombahton

I go through phases when dubstep is all I listen to... other than that, with the exception of going on runs, I don't casually listen to dubstep. I heard about this one because of an interest in moonbahton, the fusion of reggaeton and house music. The result is some dirty bass as apparent in "Barley Standing" by Diplo f. Datsik and Sabi.

After the bass hits, you will be barely standing as well.

HI KIDS

This is a staple pregame pong song. Hoodie Allen got my respect when he filmed his "James Franco" music video around the corner from my house in California. "No Interruption" got my attention through the slower beat introduction, then breaking through around the 0:37 mark.
Just listen to it.

"So who's killin the game, who's the culprit"? Hoodie Allen is.

I'm actually amazed.

Madeon is a child. I mean not legally... he just turned 18, but still. Who the heck an make songs this good before even being able to vote. Again, what am I doing with my life. Madeon is indeed incredibly successful and I am incredibly amazed by how NOT sick I am of this song after jamming to it for weeks. Sorry I've been behind the 8 ball recently, things should be picking up again soon. In the meantime, check out this song from Madeon, "The City".

And buy it on iTunes... I know I say that a lot, but it's actually worth it.

Deadmau5

House music and electro are my go to genres when I just want to dance around my room. When I'm at parties, I'd rather listen to some old school 90's and 80's music that people can actually dance to rather than just jump around like fools.
That being said, Deadmau5 consistently releases pretty awesome dance songs. Going to school in California, the house music following is incredible and has turned me on to some pretty awesome songs. Posted below is a new favorite from my boy, Deadmau5. A remix of Medina's "You and I", Deadmau5 releases this fun, a little poppy song.

Although technically improper grammar, "You and I" is worth checking out.

Deep sea, baby

You may remember Lykke Li from a previous post, but here is a little something new. A great remix that is sure to get you moving. The Magician sure does some magic to this one and the final product is a fun, upbeat jam.
I follow you deep sea baby.

There is something to be said about this.

When the Tomorrowland official after movie came out last year, I watched it over and over again despite the fact that it was 20 minutes long. I proceeded to download the audio track and have since converted part of the monster mashup into my ringtone and it is a go-to jam out song for me and my sister. This after video may rival in awesomeness. Not only do I have chills the entire time I watch it, but there is something to be said about almost 200k people showing up simply tom appreciate music. I'm not going to get into a big rant about that, but it seriously is miraculous to me. When I find an audio link to this, I will be sure to post it, but for now, Here is the video.
